Yarn Lounge

FIBRE CIRCLE GUIDELINES

Thank you for your interest in creating with us.

Our knitting and crocheting seating area is offered as a complimentary benefit for The Knitting Loft’s yarn customers, who make this space possible.

We thank you in advance for supporting our guidelines that help us keep this space sustainable and available.

WHO THIS SPACE IS FOR

Due to limited seating capacity and the nature of our yarn-shop-first business model, our seating area is reserved for The Knitting Loft’s retail yarn customers (ages 18+ or mature crafters).

Projects worked on in the seating area and fibre circles must use yarn purchased from The Knitting Loft.

WHAT THE SPACE IS

Think of it as the yarn world’s version of a neighbourhood café table: A place to knit, crochet, relax, and connect with others who share a love of fibre.

  • Enjoy your projects (using yarn purchased from TKL) while spending time in our space.
  • You’re welcome to enjoy a drink from our café during your visit.
  • This is a social space, designed for conversation, community, and shared creativity.
  • It is not intended for technical drop-in support, private lessons, or extended one-on-one instruction (from staff or other community members).

HOW IT WORKS

  • Seating is first-come, first-served and complimentary.
  • The space fits approximately 12 people comfortably.
  • We do not accept reservations.
  • You’re welcome to call ahead to check availability.

POLICIES THAT KEEP THE SPACE WORKING

To protect the experience for everyone:

  • Outside food or drinks are not permitted anywhere in the shop.
  • Yarn from other retailers may not be used in our seating area.
  • Soliciting, selling, or promoting external and/or personal businesses, classes, or services is not permitted.

These guidelines help keep the space fair, functional, and complimentary for all customers.

WHEN IT’S OPEN

Our seating area is open for knitters and crocheters to join individually or with friends 7 days a week during store hours, unless temporarily closed or reserved for special events.

Any planned closures will be listed at the bottom of this page.

Planning a visit? Pick your vibe:

  • Mondays – Thursdays: Calm and relaxed
  • Fridays & Saturdays: Busier retail atmosphere
  • Sunday - Official Knit & Crochet Circle (All-Day): Our most social day

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES: CO-CREATING AN INCLUSIVE SPACE

While all people are welcome in our shop, not all behaviours are.

This space is intended to feel creative and communal.

  • Be mindful and respectful that this is a shared social environment with many different identities, backgrounds, and seen and unseen diversities
  • Keep conversations respectful, inclusive, and considerate of others.
  • Avoid dominating the space or introducing topics that disrupt our welcoming and inspiring atmosphere

If a team member observes behaviour that interferes with the experience or conflicts with our values, you may be asked to adjust or, in rare cases, leave the space.

If you experience or witness discriminatory or problematic behaviour, please speak with a team member as soon as possible.

Thank you for helping us care for a space built on creativity, connection, and mutual respect.
