Japanese dyer, Pam Powers, feels a profound connection to the history, culture, and social value of handcrafting in Japan. Having taken workshops on Sashiko, Boro, and Indigo Dyeing, "Ikigai Fibres" was inspired by the Japanese concept that means, "a reason for being."
