Pima cotton 2/8 is a super-soft cotton imported from Peru. The cotton fibers come from the seeds of the cotton bush. Pima cotton plants grow mainly in northern Peru, where the combination of the soil, the equator sun, and the water from the rivers makes Peruvian Pima cotton one of the finest cotton species found in the world. The cotton is hand-picked 3 times a year.

The Pima cotton fibers are so long and fine that it must be hand-picked to avoid it getting tangled. The fibers have an almost silky sheen and result in a delicate and soft cotton yarn. The fact that the Pima cotton fibers are so long means that the yarn does not have to be twisted so many times and this is the reason why the yarn remains soft.
The extra long fibers are therefore part of the group of cottons, which is called ELS (extra long staple). The long fibers on the cotton increase the quality and mean that they do not become as easily frayed also known as peeling tendency. This makes Pima cotton very durable and high quality.
Pima cotton also has higher strengths and durability than almost all other cottons, further it is also more resistant to shrinking and fading.

Due to the softness of the pima cotton, it is very suitable for baby, children's, and adult knitwear, or others who prefer cotton to wool. This Pima cotton stands out in that it remains soft wash after wash. 

Just as it is important to wash wool with the correct detergent, it is also important to wash cotton with a detergent that contains enzymes and is specially developed for cotton. It is recommended to wash the finished knit at 30-40 degrees Celsius.
