This class will focus on the basics of fair isle, introducing you to chart reading, stranded knitting with two colours, effective holding techniques, and several more tricks of the trade that will give you the confidence you need to tackle your most desired colourwork projects!

Project: Reflections DK Beanie by Kim Firth

Available Dates:  This course consists of 2 sessions (2 hours each) that runs over a 2-week period. Offered on the following date:

  • Saturday, February 1st and February 8th from 2-4pm

Skill Level: Intermediate Beginner - Intermediate (ideally have a few projects under your belt)

Pre-Requisites: Must have experience working in the round (on DPNs and circulars). 

Techniques Covered:

  • Working in the round (both with circular needles and double points) 
  • Keeping a proper tension to avoid puckering
  • Carrying two strands and catching floats
  • Centred double decreases
  • Reading a colour chart

Materials Not Included (Sold at The Knitting Loft):

  • 2 contrasting colours of 128 Superwash by Cascade (available at The Knitting Loft)
  • 5.5mm 16" circular
  • 6.0mm 16" circular
  • 6.0mm double pointed needles
  • Highlighter tape or sticky notes

Pre-Work:

  • Purchase & Print Reflections DK Beanie Pattern by Kim Firth (you may also opt to purchase the pattern at The Knitting Loft and we will print it for you)
  • Complete ribbing section of pattern before first class (details provided upon registration)
